Random Things

Here are a few random things that have been going on over the past few months.
A view from my hotel at the Contemporary of Disney World.

Watching a storm front come in from my office at work.

A view of Kansas City from the Kauffman Performing Arts Center.

New Orleans, Louisiana July 2012

My latest trip was to New Orleans, Louisiana.  Some place I've never been before but really enjoyed myself.  We stayed at the Bourbon Orleans hotel a block off of Bourbon street.  We toured the Ursuline Convent as part of our conference.  I got to spend a little time on Bourbon street (what I remember and I was well behaved).  A small group of us took a walking ghost tour of the French Quarter which was amazing.  I also had my cards read.  Other than the travel to and from was horrible (delays in Dallas) the trip was great.  I want to go back again soon.

Enjoying Bourbon Street!

The French Quarter

Garden at the convent.

The attic at the convent.  Do you see the spirits?

Bourbon street at a quite time.

St. Louis Cathedral.

Our tour guide continued to refer to this as "Touchdown Jesus".

All-Star Weekend

Kansas City played host to the All Start game in early July.  While I only got to attend the Fanfest event at the Convention Center, it was still a great time in the city.  Here are a few pictures from around town.

Chattanooga, Tennessee June 2012

My last trip of June was to Chattanooga, Tennessee.  I've been here many times but this trip I got to see a few things I hadn't before.  I did the incline ride up the mountain and looked around the national park.  If you know me and my fear of heights, the fact that I even considered the incline ride was a feat in its self.  We stayed on the Delta Queen that is a historic boat that still works.  That was an experience.  Here are some of the pictures from that trip.

The entrance to the Confederate Fort at the top of the mountain.

A view of Chattanooga.

The other side of the mountain.

At the top of the incline.

That's how you get up and down.

I decided to sit up front on the ride down.  Not sure that was my best decision but really enjoyed it.

The Delta Queen

The pedestrian bridge over the river that we took multiple times.

Charlotte, NC June 2012

Another trip I took in June was to Charlotte, North Carolina.  I've flown through here man times but never actually stopped to visit.  During the trip we were taking on a tour of the Panther's stadium.  Here are a few pics.

We all know I love dessert!  This is what we got at a dessert bar.  So totally going back!

Giving a presentation.  I do work during these trips.

Nanaimo, British Columbia Canada June 2012

One of the places that I got to travel to this summer was Nanaimo located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.  It was beautiful and words cannot describe the trip.  I'll let the pictures do the talking for me.
Me on the Ferry in Vancouver heading over to the island.

One of the ferry's heading out.

The clouds were low like this the entire time.  It was really cool!

The view from my hotel room.  You could see the float plane land and take off in the cove.

The capital in Victoria.

This is a hotel.  I thought it looked cool.

Had to add this.  This was the rental car I had.  It was hard to keep it within the speed limit.

One of the lookouts on the drive between Nanaimo and Victoria.

Me again at the look out point.

A pub that they took us to.  It was really good.

I thought this was a cool shot as we were heading back to Vancouver

I look at Vancouver Island.

Absolutely beautiful!
